Modes of Transport
Baratang Island requires visitors to board a local ferry from the neighboring city to reach its coasts. From Port Blair, the Baratang Island is situated at a distance of 101 km; one can reach this place in 2-3 hours based on the mode of transport.
There are two options to reach the island, namely road, and sea. One can either take government buses or private cabs from Port Blair for a road trip or a ferry for water travel from Port Blair to reach Baratang Island. However, one has to leave early at approx 4 A.M or 6 A.M from Port Blair as the check post clearance is done at 6 A.M and 9 A.M. After passing through the checkpost, one can see dense forests surrounding roads from both sides.
