In Jaintia Hills, Jowai is universally recognized for its bucolic environment, a spectacular view of the ideal balance between tradition and culture, located 66 km from Shillong. Jowai, like Cherrapunji, is very proud to be the desired destination on a picturesque road with its lakes and vast open valleys and cascading waterfalls. The Lalong Park is a prominent tourist site, although Syntu Ksiar is also popular on the banks of the Myntdu River. Every year frequent visitors come from all over India and attend splendid festivals like Behdeinkhlam, the Chad Sukra and Laho Dance.
The various non-veg dishes of the local fish and pig can be tried by passionate non-vegetarians. Two of the famous pig dishes that we are heartily recommending are Jadoh and Doh Khleh. Further, a sweet delicacy of fermented beans known as Tungtoh is provided here to those who are little on the daring side.
